Manufacturing

Compressed air powers tools, automation, and packaging equipment in nearly every manufacturing plant. We supply the oil-free compressor parts, design expertise, and ASME pressure vessels that help manufacturers keep their air systems clean and steady.

Manufacturing Applications

As more manufacturing facilities move toward automation and tighter process control, the quality of the compressed air supply has a direct effect on uptime, product quality, and maintenance costs. Oil-free compressors keep oil out of the air that reaches sensitive tools, valves, and instrumentation.

Oil-free compressed air and ASME pressure vessels serve a wide range of manufacturing applications, including:

  • Plant air systems supplying pneumatic tools, actuators, and control instrumentation throughout a facility
  • Automated assembly and robotic work cells that depend on clean, consistent air pressure
  • Material handling and conveying systems using pneumatic actuation
  • Packaging lines, including fillers, formers, sealers, and labeling equipment
  • CNC machining centers using compressed air for part blow-off and chip clearing
  • Process air used in mixing, agitation, or pneumatic conveying of materials
  • Test stands and quality control equipment requiring clean, oil-free air
  • Pressure vessel storage and air receiver tanks sized to buffer demand across a plant’s compressed air system

Oil contamination in the air supply can drive unplanned downtime, fouled valves, and added maintenance across several systems at once.

A well-sized receiver helps, too. Air receivers buffer short bursts of demand, which keeps compressors from working harder than they need to when automated equipment cycles on and off.

Oil-Free Parts and Pressure Vessels for Manufacturing

Our work with manufacturers covers oil-free compressor parts, rebuilds, and pressure vessels, including:

  • Oil-free compressor parts and repair kits for Thomas, Gast, and GSE compressors used in process and point-of-use air applications, including piston cups, cylinder sleeves, flapper valves, gaskets, and bearings
  • Guidance from our air compressor design consultation team for manufacturers that want to extend the life of an existing compressor design or develop a new one for a specific process
  • Complete and partial compressor rebuilds that restore worn compressors to oil-free operating condition
  • Custom ASME “U” and “UM” stamped pressure vessels, with air tanks from 1 to 400 gallons, for use as air receivers and surge tanks across a facility
  • Pressure vessel service, covering inspection and condition assessment of aging vessels, along with sourcing through seven ASME pressure vessel manufacturing facilities worldwide to match a plant’s needs and project timeline

Our design team brings patented cooling methods and cylinder sleeve finishing technology to compressor design, and our rebuilds replace wear components such as piston cups, cylinder sleeves, valves, gaskets, and bearings. For storage, we coordinate sizing, materials, pressure ratings, and port configurations with our manufacturing partners and manage supplier communication and schedules, so a plant gets the right vessel for its layout.

Application Example

This hypothetical example is not a description of a specific customer. Consider a mid-sized manufacturer whose plant air system has grown over several years, with several small oil-free compressors and undersized air receivers struggling to keep up with newer automated equipment. Pressure sags at peak demand, and the maintenance team is stretched thin.

Our approach would be to review the existing compressors and air demand with the plant’s maintenance and engineering teams. Worn oil-free compressors can be rebuilt with new wear components, and we can help specify correctly sized ASME air receivers for each production area to buffer demand. A phased plan lets the plant carry out upgrades without taking everything offline at once.

Each plant is different, so we look at the equipment, the air demand, and the layout before recommending a plan.
